SIBIRKO/NAIDOO WIN ROUND ARRO/AUTOBAR 100 RALLY

And so did the final round of the 2014 ARRO Northern District Rally Chamionship namely the ARRO/AUTOBAR 100 Rally get under way,lots of mud splashes awaited the 17 competitors who were all eager to get started.Rain clouds were in the distance and luckily subsided as the first stage started.

Vladimir Sibirko and Bradley Naidoo rallied their Subaru GT to take overall and group honours at Round 6 of the ARRO Northern District Rally Championship.The pairing were comfortable from the word go on the day posting the 3rd fastest qualifying time in the Prolog stage and also winning all the stages except for 1.

Young guns Marco Ferreira and Alex Godrich showed the old boys they are a pairing to be reckoned with in the future finishing in their Subaru second overall and in group.Marco driving a near standard car has definately got the pace to play with the more seasoned competitors in his group and will definately be one to watch out for in 2015.

Age definately comes before beauty Natie Booysen and Chris Brand showed the rest of the field finishing third overall and winning Group D in their well prepared Ford Escourt.Natie driving as sideways as ever entertaining the spectators and still maintaining a great speed setting good stage times earning them their group win too.

Group A champions Rinus Plomp and Johan De Bruin had a relaxed day at the ofiice.The pairing already have won their group championship on the previous event maintained a steady pace,the pairing finishing 4th overall and third in group.

Cobus Groenewald and Natalie Van Wyk got off to excellent start winning stage 1,unfortunately thats where their winning streak stopped.The car experieced a sudden loss of power on the open section back to service park and the problem persisted throughout the day.Despite the bad luck managed to finish 5th overall and win Group C.

Newbies to ARRO, Kosie Van Der Merwe and Coen Van Zyl in their first ever outting in their Subaru N12 maintained good pace throughout the day finishing 6th overall.This pairing might just become a force to be reckoned with in the future after some seat time in their new vehicle.

7th overall went to the consistant father and son pairing of Ashley and Lesley Mackenzie in yet another well prepared Ford Escourt finshing second in Group D.

After a 12 hour flight from Germany Gert Wolmerans got behind the wheel of his beautifully prepared VW Golf 3 together with navigator Willem Jansen Van Rensburg,the pairing had a smooth day at the office taking Group B honours and finishing 8th overall.

Jakes Jacobs and new navigator Dewald Hatting in their Vw Golf 3 took 2nd place in Group C and 9th overall.

Super consistant father and son pairing of Hennie and Melcom Schoeman experienced over heating problems in their Datsun P510,finishing 10th overall and winning Group N.

Peter Pilusa and James Thomsom took a comfortable Group E win in their Nissan Sentra and finishing 11th overall.

Brother and sister pairing of Anru and Juane Van Jaarsveld in their Datsun GX finished second in Group E and 12 the overall.

Yet another dissapointing rally for Jose Ferreira and Pierre Jordaan,their Subaru GT has been poised the entire the season with mechanical issues.The car kept on blowing the fuel pump fuse causing the pairing to stop numerous times in every stage losing the pair alot of time.Never the less we know that the Itallian Panelbeaters team will be back in full force on the next event up where they belong.The pair finished 13th overall.

TARMAC SPRINT 18TH APRIL

ARRO will be hosting a Tarmac Rally Sprint on the 18th of April at Boekenhoutskloof Traffic College.This famous stage forms part of the annual Tarmac Rally and is highly enjoyed by all who have tested it.

The event is set to start at 09:00 with the Prolog stage which will also be stage 1.

There will be a wide variety of cars competing...from historic Rally and track cars to the newest sports cars on the market.The day promises to be fun for the entire family to spectate.
